Kevin Kephart from Brown’s Bay Packing delivers canned salmon to Campbell River Food Bank

At Brown’s Bay Packing, we recognize the growing urgency surrounding food security in Canada. A recent poll on Food Security shows 31% of Canadians are now very concerned about their ability to afford food, a figure that has nearly tripled in recent years. These findings highlight the need for continued industry and community collaboration.

Wei Wai Kum First Nation and Brown’s Bay Packing collaborated to provide over 12,000 cans of fresh pink salmon to the Campbell River Food Bank. The fish is surplus from FSC sockeye fishing opportunities in early August. In the spirit of community, relationships, food security and good will, Wei Wai Kum First Nation and Browns Bay Packing were happy to assist the local food bank and its patrons in need.

Since 1989, Brown’s Bay Packing has been proud to support and uplift the communities we serve. From local partnerships to food-security initiatives, we remain committed to ensuring families have access to good quality protein. Our contribution to the Campbell River Food Bank is the latest example of this long-standing commitment, and we look forward to continuing to give back in meaningful ways.
