Strong Pay at Brown's Bay

Since opening our processing plant in 1989, we’ve proudly prioritized fair, reliable, and competitive compensation for every member of our team. From the beginning, Brown’s Bay has believed that the strength of our company comes from the people who show up every day, often before sunrise, to keep our operations running safely and efficiently. That’s why we’ve consistently aimed to pay $7–$9 above minimum wage, long before competitive wages became an industry talking point. Fair compensation has never been a trend for us, it has been a core value since day one.
Matt, Human Resources at Brown’s Bay Packing, believes “competitive wages don’t just attract talent- they show people their work is valued. Strong staffing starts with strong respect.” This philosophy has helped our team build long-term careers here, create financial security for their families, and continue contributing to the coastal communities we call home.
In recent years, as government-mandated shutdowns have created less work for our employees, our commitment to competitive wages has become even more important. Ensuring our staff remain well-compensated is not only the right thing to do but it is essential for supporting the resilience of coastal economies and protecting food security in British Columbia. As we look toward the future, we will continue to invest in competitive compensation, training, and long-term opportunity for the people who keep this industry strong.
